I / we have known Elke for over 45 years and we are deeply saddened to hear that she passed away earlier this week. Her life ended way too soon! She was a very caring and vibrant woman who saw things through the kaleidoscope of her life experiences. She grew up in Munich Germany; traveled and lived in Ethiopia, and Israel, Morocco and Spain. She came to the USA in 1973/4 and settled in Irvine. I knew her parents and Brother Rudiger when I was in Germany in '72. They welcomed me into their home as so Elke welcomed many of us at her home in Crooked Creek. She was an excellent cook, homemaker and farmer/gardener, and always had a wonderful and warm home welcoming everyone to share in her adopted homeland which she cherished and loved. Her friends, and her brother, and those in the community that were blessed to know her will sadly miss Elke. We only wish we had stayed more in touch with her but as life passes quickly and our family grew we failed to keep in touch. So many wonderful and fun filled memories fill our thoughts of Elke. We loved Elke as I know so many friends whose life was touched by Elke will recall their love for this beautiful and kind woman who have left a lasting and indelible mark on our hearts. Peace Be With You and know that you have been welcomed by your parents, and the many friends who have gone before you and we also await the day when we will hug and embrace each other in the glory of your newly found home in the heavenly kingdom of the righteous. We Love You! Paul, Ellenore, Melody, Christopher, Michael, Charlotte and our 3 grandchildren.

We remember Elke as a beautiful and fun loving lady. We came to Estill County around the same time she did. She was a gracious hostess as well. We enjoyed many gatherings at her lovely home. I enjoyed talking to her Mom and Dad. Although we had not seen her for quite a while,we know her health had been declining for several years and are glad her suffering is over. Rest In Peace, Elke.
